About

Igdalia Covarrubias is a PhD student in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) program at The Ohio State University. She also works as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Student Success Research Lab at OSU, where she focuses on research related to Health and IT transfer pathways, identity development of transfer students in Health and IT majors, and transfer student success. Before joining the SSRL unit at OSU, she worked as a Counselor and Student Affairs practitioner for five years. Igdalia's experience as a Counselor and Student Affairs practitioner within the California State University (CSU) system has shaped her research interest in graduate school access, persistence, and success, specifically for first-generation, historically low-income, and Latinx/a/o students transferring from Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to Predominately White Institutions (PWIs). Lastly, she earned her master's degree in Counseling from California State University, Fresno, and her bachelor's degree in English Literature from California State University, Stanislaus.
