SpringForward

Timeline

Spring 2016 – Autumn 2019

Summary

SpringForward is a pilot academic intervention program designed to increase term-to-term retention for academically high-risk students. First-time, first-year in-state students who (a) earned a pre-forgiveness GPA that was lower than a 2.3 or (b) withdrew from more than half of their first semester courses were invited to participate in a spring academic success course. These students were also invited to apply for a summer residential component of the program that provided holistic student support leading into the students’ second year. As the research liaisons for the project, we are conducting a mixed-method, multi-year study to understand student experiences and the effectiveness of the intervention program.
